A common saying amongst the more practical owners in our area is :-you plan to go how far?..... I stick to the bus routes

I'm sure it'll be fine...let us see some pictures of the hood too!

Besides the replies you have had on this thread - look up an earlier thread I posted some time ago - I think it was headed "What spares do you carry....". That got a lot of replies too.

Like the inner tube idea, I always renew the hoses on my classics but keep the old ones in the boot just in case. Rotor arm is a good idea, the only time I've been let down in a Stag has been due to a broken rotor arm, I still managed to limp home after sticking it back together with superglue.....

                  One idea for possible consideration.

The last Classic Car Club I was a member had an area on the message board and in the Club magazine where other members put informationwhere they lived with phone number etc. Included was what helpother members/volunteers would be willing togive, i.e. Tools, Water, Petrol, Towing, Parking facilitiesetc etc. This meant that when other members travelled they knew that there could be help. Even if the help was getting the car to their house so while waiting for the breakdown service a comfortable place to wait/rest with a cuppa would be welcome. Volunteers did not need to make a 100% commitment as they may not be home just possible they could help. The volunteers would state what area they would be willing to cover. In my case living in Plymouth I offered South West Devon, South East Cornwall. When you looked at who was willing to offer help you were never more than 25 miles from someone and even closer in areas like the midlands and south east. While all who offered were volunteers any costs incurred like supplying petrol etc would be paid for.

The SOC has always had the 'Knighthawk Register', but this seems to have disappered in recent years. This was a list of members who were prepared to assist others in trouble. The list included this information, Don. There was a contact listed inside the front cover of the magazine, but I guess the clubs insurance breakdown scheme has made this largely redundant.

                    Darren,

If you want to borrow my Bosscreen then give me a call. My car is in having the front end resprayed at present, but should be back with me on Thursday. I should be around most of Friday until around 4pm.
