You get up Saturday with 2 simple tasks - check the Stag for mot and test steering rack you put on last night.
1) Move the washing machine to check if cat has left mouse behind and find evidently long standing water leak. No mouse. Shout at cat.
2) Check Stag steering, doesn't feel right, decide to replace original rack. Shout at kids. Discover bad ball joint, local motor factors can get one by Lunchtime
3) Boss rings and "requests" a visit to work to look at urgent software patch. Shout at boss.
4) At work all on my own, Install cd on PC, looks good. Can't get cd out. Find pin to push in release hole. Drop pin in box of cables (almost a haystack). Ring motorfactors.
5) Eventually pick up balljoint where its been left out by closed motor factors. Remove arm on Stag, wrestle with the old joint and end up smashing it out (probably 30 years old). Fit new one, hammer it home then find its wrong type (taper too small). Rumage around, find another arm and temporarily fit that. £20 down the drain. Shout at kids.
6) Disconnect pipes on rack and drain, wash TQF off arms in Mrs sink. Move rack to get at column bolt. Wash more TQF off arms in sink. Get shouted at by Mrs.
7) Nearly teatime, remove bolt on RH head transfer cover to look at fitting temp sensor. Eventuall free bolt (took 3/4" socket with xtension) to find thread much larger than sensor (must be same as heater pipe on LH) and of course the seal is knackered. Find seal, replace bolt, drop socktet on top of auto gearbox, neatly hidden from view. Scrabble around underneath, find socket, wash TQF off arms in sink. Get screamed at by Mrs.
8) Put Stag away for night, open can and relax.......
