    Fuel filter

Just a quick question if somebody can help

Just restarted car after winter lay up and clear fuel filter seems to only have a very small amont of fuel in it car is fine ontick over but struggles with lack of power

Would this most probably be a pump isssue or carb issue

    Any suggestions appreciated

    Cheers

How low is it? There is always going to be some air in the filter as there is no way to bleed the air out. As long as the petrol is above the inlet and outlet of the filter, it should be ok.

Only seems to be about 3mm deep with majority of filter being air

Could be a blockage somewhere between the tank and the filter restricting the fuel flow

I had this issue recently car would run so no problems however there was a faint smell of fuel in the boot.I found the bolts on the fuel pump slightly loose .After tightening the fuel filter is now nearly full .

I have this problem after the winter lay up every year, I don't know why but a new fuel filter cures it and the new filter always fills right up immediately, for £4 you might as well try it. I actually get fuel starvation unless I replace the filter, pump is fine as I rebuilt it last year with new points.

It's gonna bea blockage or fuel pump problem then I would say, check the points on the fuel pump for burning and gap. New points can be bought for about £8 from Burlen fuel if they are knackered.
