    windscreen wipers

    Today it rained

and as always the wiper blades could not clear the rain but just created a film across the screen

I have new twin blades (SOCTFL) but have been told I need new springs within the blades.

At the car show today traders did not have them but said they had seen them available but did not know where from

Can anyone give me a stockest of these springs and has anyone changed them

Roger, if you have bought the tooling fun arms, don't fit them unless you replace the rubber blade as they are useless, too hard. This was not down to the tooling fund, team, but due to the insistence of the now defunct company that made them insisting that they use their own blades.

Buy a pair of proper refills from Peter at LD Part and they work a dream. Don't replace the wiper springs as the arms need to only lightly touch the glass and making them to pressurised will stop them flipping over on the return.

I have tried to do what you are trying to get too and it was a waste of time. I was bending the arms to try and get them to press against the glass to add pressure and all I needed to do was to fitted proper blades, take the pressure off the screen so that they would sweep easily and let the rubber flip and clear the water in both directions. They are now 100% and very pleased

      Cheers

        Andrew

        Thanks for your advice

this problem has been with me for the last two years as I brought the first couple of blades at the national show just after SOCTFL announced them. Had a few problems in the rain but thought that the blades just needed to bed in.

Complained to the SOCTFL at the following National day and was suggested to replace the springs.

Like you I tried bending the arms to apply more pressure but not using the car in the rain often it has not been high on my list of thing to do. that is until the MOT tester was going to fail the car for the blades and I explained they were new blades he relented. But today my wife was not happy at not being able to see clearly so the boss said to get it fixed.

will try the new inset rubber blades from LD as my next attempt

        cheers

          It will work

I bought my at the National as well and it was like that until last year when I took a wiper off and showed it to Peter and he knew straight away and knew the history as well of the production. I almost went as far as replacing one of the wiper wheel box as I thought it was due to play and thank God I didn't.

          You will be fine

Just had a look atthe springs i have theyare on new frames similar to that of the stag, it would be a impossible to change them you would have to drill out the rivet centre to the blade, and then try and get it back some how...
