Steering rack

A friend of mine would like to know if a Triumph 2000/2500 steering rack is the same as a Stag? As far as I am aware, the only difference is the Stag one has white plastic blocks on the end of the rack to stop too much lock that would make thetyres rub.

Are my facts correct andare they the same?

The reason why I ask is that he has a rack that has only done 30k on a2000/2500 that he haskept and as his Stag one is leaking, he was going to use his Stag whilst rebuilding the 2000 / 2500 and then interchange the units to save time

Yes the PAS on the 2000 /2500 is the same as the stag

The white blocks on each end then I presume just come off and can be transferred over?

I have done the same thing with my car, using a rack from a low mileage 2500.

When I checked, it had the white blocks the same as the Stag - I didn't need to change anything, it was a straight swap.

Thanks Pete, that is really helpful. I will see if he has the white blocks on and if so, get him a rebuild kit so he can get going
