    Rear Shock Absorber - Update

    Hi all,

I started this subject on Thu Mar 12th - here is an update.

The two rear Spax (Krypton filled) are installed on my Stag and set to 4 clicks - very comfortable, much softer than the Monroes. Robsport had the best price: 100.- incl. VAT per pairplus delivery. Delivery was one week to Germany, not bad.

    Hallo Klaus

Sounds great but can you confirm if the spax shocks give a more 'linear' feel to the suspension over the standard set up?

I ask this because I am considering replacing my shocks soon (getting old) but really would love some feed back regarding which dampers give the best feel.

My current shocks have over springs which give a stiffer ride than the standard dampers, would Spax's or similar need these over springs or not?

What do you mean by "linear feel"

I have adjustable spaxs on mine all round, the improvement over the standard setup IMHO is massive but then the old suspension parts were well beyond there best and i have also fitted HRS uprated springs, poly bushes all round and datsun drive shafts

I now have a slightly firmer but a lot more precisefeel to the handling which was put though it's pace's over the weekend in Wales and even the wife commented on how much better smoother the car felt

I have these Spax on the rear of my car - set to 4 clicks.

I have to admit, the car feels more stable, smoother with less 'roll' on the corners. A definite improvement (IMHO).

        Regards

        Chris

          Stuart

Just had the rear suspension rebuilt on mine, poly bushed throughout, new springs and new standard shocks.

This is a massive improvement, only covered 100 miles so far, but the ride handling compromise is ideal for me - car corners flat but ride isn't harsh.

I wondered about Spax or Konis, but Mick at Wards advised standard shocks were sufficient for normal road use.

            Hallo Stuart

up to now I have only done 50 km downtown Munich. My in tension was to get the rear axle of the Stag softer/more comfotable when the boot is empty. It works.

I do not know how the car will feel fully loaded on a long holiday trip. Do I have to increase the number of clicks? From a very well known Stag PICK-UP driver I know that he always increased the clicks when he loaded quite an amount of beer in Calais on his way back fom the continent. Any experience?
