after preparing the car for the new season ( blowing up right front tyre, washing the ENTIRE car) it has aquired a low speed hesitation below about 1200 rpm , I removed and cleaned the spark plugs and checked the timing, the result was the strobe was not regular, I checked each plug lead in turn and they are all the same, so next to check is the electronic ignition ( Luminition ). Anybody know of a way to check the ignition module other than changing the entire unit?

I must have missed this post originally, i had the same kind of symptoms.... but then the luminition control module gave up completely..... switch to Pertronics Ignitor has the car running nicely again

I have heard of too many Lumenition failures. Strangely the older Newtronic system who's company I am told was bought up by Lumenition seems to work well. A recent car I repaired had a coil failure, but the Newtronic ingition was still working fine after coil replacement.

I have ther pertronics (Pertronix?) one in mine. I gather that it isn't as sophisticated as the Lumination one, but it works fine on mine. It has no external box, so looks standard from the outside and I haven't heard anyone on here mention one that has failed!
