    Insurance

Just wondering if anyone has heard of Hagerty insurance. Just got a really competitive quote from them for my Stag, less than half what I've been quoted by the club scheme.

Any comments or experience of them would be very appreciated.

    Regards, Paul

The big plus of the club insurance scheme is the European and UK recovery that is included within the price.

2years ago, I got recovered from the Dutch/German border and, the insurers provided a hire car and found an hotel (it was a public holiday in Holland and none of the car hire companies were open).

Even if you don't go continental, for me recovery to home, where hopefully I can fix it is my main requirement in a Stag breakdown.

        Hi Paul

Hagerty were at Tatton Park at the weekend although I have no experience of them at all. They have apparently been around for quite a while.

I have just renewed my insurance

RAC the dearest Footman James next RH Club scheme next, Adrian Flux and cheapest by £48 compared to RH was Peter D James. Rang RH to tell them I wouldn't be renewing with then and they promptly matched the cheapest quote. I stayed with them but why couldn't they quote competitivly from the start:X

              Thanks for the input.

Yes it was at Taton where I spoke to them, never heard of them before and we too got a bag! I have spoken to them since and verified the quote after going through the usual quesions about driving record.

The club RH scheme quoted my £340 and Hagerty £146, a huge difference, for the samemilage, sameagreeed value etc.

I take the point on recovery, Hagerty include this on their policy, but not sure whether it would cover European recovery. I'm not likely to take the car to Europe so it doesn't really bother me.

What worries me most is the agreeement on value and how difficult it would be for them to cough up if I ever did have an accident.

Think I'm going to go for it. The price is right!

                Paul

I had mine valued by the TSSC a few weeks ago and the club scheme were happy to accept to valuation. SoI think if you had a written valuation from either theTSSC or Stuart at SOCI would expect Hagerty to honour the valuation.

My RH insurance is just over a £100 so not worth shopping around especially as this includes breakdown cover (which I used once from deepest France and was grateful for it). I also cover my other car with them. My only view is as a recommended club scheme I feel I have more backing (from the club) should I have a problem.

It was Hagerty who organised the 'Drive it Day' event I went to at Silverstone (see earlier post).

I may have to go with them as their sticker won't come off my windscreen:shock:
