    MOT this weekend

The Stag is booked in for MOT on Saturday morning. First time it will be on the road for nearly ten years and a very lengthy restoration. I really hope it doesn't rain!

There is still quite a bit to do mainly around the soft top and interior and some fettling to the paint, but enough done to get through MOT I hope.

Fingers crossed and please wish me luck.

    Good luck Paul .

I have got mine this Saturday morning as well. Should be OK as its only done 2500 miles this last 12 months, but you can never be sure.

How did you get on Paul? Mine failed the MOT this morning. No brake lights....intermittent switch it seems. Hand brake low on off side... reckon cable needs freeing/adjusting. Emissions 8.63%:shock::shock::shock:.... very high...no wonder the tail pipes are quite sooty and it doesn't need much choke!!!!!

Must admit I am a bit annoyed about the brake lights although they were working ok when I checked andI had planned to put the gas analyser on it on Thursday evening but did not get home early enough.

No time to sort it tomorrow so just got to hope for good weather this week so that I can get it sorted one evening as it runs out on Tuesday.

The MOT tester commented that the car was older than him!!!!!!

Passed but got an advisory on the brakes.

            Hi Paul

How did you get on? I see youchanged your mind and decided to get it MOT'd before it was totally complete.

            Cheers

              I've a confession to make.......

The weather was aweful yesterday morning, I didn't want to get it wet so cancelled the MOT! After 10 years sitting in the garage didn't seem fair to get it wet and filthy on the first time out.

              What a wimp!!!!!

Forunately Dave at the garage is very understanding and said he wasn't expecting me when he saw the rain. So will wait for the weather to improve and try again, hopefully sometime this week. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm in Italy on business week after next and really need to get it to the trimmer to fit the hood trim before I go.

Nigel, sorry yours didn't go too well, but doesn't sound too difficult to fix. Although the CO is veryhigh and hope you can adjust it done, without serious work on the carbs.

Bruce, I really need to get it on the road to trouble shoot it after doing so much work, so thought the sooner I get the MOT the better. Also means I don't need to use trailers to get it to the trimmer and Spraybake to finish the paintwork off. Hows your painting coming on?

              Picture taken on Thursday evening...

Took it to the MOT man this lunchtime and it passed.

Still got problem with the CO level. Started at 8.5% and managed to adjust to 6.5% and ran out of adjustment again. I sent the carbs were sent back to rebuilder a few weeks ago with same problem and they returned with them with no fault found.Might be that I'm doing something wrong, but really can't see what, its not exactly a difficult process. Need to talk to rebuilder again and see what they say.

Fortunately the CO doesn't fal MOT because is pre 1975.

Off to the trimmer this evening if it stays dry.

This is just an educated guess, but it sounds as if your jets have been mounted too low, therefor the needles won't drop enough. Martin.

Yes, thats exactly what I suspect is wrong, or the needle profile is wrong. But getting the rebuilder to agree and sort it out is another thing. Their opinion at the moment seems to be that I'm not adjusting them correctly, and convincing them otherwise is looking difficult.

Anyway, lets see what their Stromberg expert says tomorrow.
