Chrome / Wire Wheels

Hi all

Question is about wire or chrome wire wheels. Clearly I can go to say Rimmers and buy a set that I know fit my stag. However if I wanted to shop around what do i need to look for.

Is it right that you can buy bolt on wire wheels as well as the ones that need the conversion kit and if so is one better than the other ?

If I go for the ones that require the conversion kit, how do i know that they will fit the fittings on the kit - what do I look for ?

My 73 Stag is fitted with bolt on wire wheels, made in India by Dunlop. I lost one of the mock spinner caps and was directed to http://www.mwsint.com/. They were very efficient, knew what wheel I was talking aboutand sent me exactly the cover I needed.

I have a photo of my Stag for sale in 1999 with alloy wheels. I bought it in 04 with only the chromed wires. I have no idea how old they are but they do look well and aren't too difficult to keep clean.

I should also have mentioned that mine have spacers on the front hubs, presumably to compensate for the normal offset of the alloys. Don't know whether the track is any different to normal, but I think those guys at MSW would be able to advise.

Hi Darren

I have just bought a Stag with chrome wire wheels and am considering replacing them with alloys in a few months time.

I will want to sell my wires,which are in good condition,so give me a ring if you are interested.
