    Timing Chains.

Hi all, I've just collected my car from Wards where Mick was replacing my timing chains, I was going to do it myself, but a combination ofwanting it done in time for the Six Castles run in Devon, a bathroom that looks like a building site, with SWMBO leaping up and down, and me being a bit chicken changed my mind.

The old chains, the original type, had done 43.000 miles, not bad considering they're only supposed to begood for 25.000, and John reckons there was another 10 or 15.000 miles left in them. All down to regular good quality oil changes I'm told, I've always thought three to four changes a year is an expensive pain, but a hell of a lot cheaper than aset of holed pistons - ahhhh peace of mind !

Anybody else on here doing the Six Castles ? Martin.

We did the Coast to Coast run, and thoroughly enjoyed it, we then stayed on for a few days in Lynmouth. This year we're making a week of it in Torquay and very much looking forward to it, a really beautiful County. :dude: Martin.

Hi Sukh, the avatar is my car, just a picture in the snow mucked about with. E.J. wards supplied the parts and did the work, everything was changed, guides, tensioners, slippers, sprockets etc, it seemed foolish not to for a relatively small cost, they're the original type chains, not the German ones, I don't fancy waiting for them to go bang. Martin.

We are doing the Castles run, going down on Sat and coming back on Monday, staying with friends near Plymouth.

Sorry Nick, I don't know, but the same make as Wards fitted 43.000 miles ago, so they must be the right ones, I'll ask Mick. Martin.

Reason for asking is I've always believed Rolon chains/tensionersto be the spawn of the Devil but if there's a set that's done 43,000 then I'll have to change my opinion. Mind you 43,000 on any set of chains is impressive

Hi Nick, they're Renolds, and the tensioners were two thirds of the way out, so quite a bit left. Martin.

OEM chains then, be nice to see these re-manufactured.

                            Hi,

I bought a set of chains from Ward's a few weeks ago and they are Rolon.
