Lincoln Casle Rally

Some of us that are going to the Lincoln Castle Rally on Sunday are planning to meet at the Grandstand on the West Common at 09:30. Anyone going to the show (ticket only admission for cars) is welcome to join us for a convoy up to the castle. I might not have my Stag as the hood is not yet refitted although the guys doing it are hoping to have it done by tomorrow if the trimmer has replaced the zip.

If you have not got an entrance ticket for your car its still worth a visit as you can park in the car park outside the castle walls and walk into the show. There is usually a fine selection of classics on display along with the usual attractions the castle has to offer. The Lincs Vintage Vehicle Society will also be running vintage buses between the castle and the Transport museum.

Sorry Dave, wont be able to make it. After a night out in the town i had planned to go to this with a friend i have'nt seen for a while and looking forward to a nice Sunday roast in the Bailgate, only to be told 'you've obviously forgot about the christening we're going to':shock:. So i'll be sat in a church at 10.30am nursing a thick head. At least we're going in the Stag tho.

Thats a shame Baz as the castle is a great event and the Vic is only a short walk for a beer at lunchtime.

Got a phone call from the body guy last night and my Stag will be ready by lunch time today. Hoping it looks as good when I get it home as it does in his workshop. All rust removed, new screen gutters no dirt in the paint and a window zip thats fit for purpose.

The base coat he used can be brush painted so Im thinking of stripping the underneath and painting it like you have done, during the winter of course as I just want to drive it now.

Next job though is to fit the Datsun drive shafts and if that doesnt cure the strange clunk which Ive always maintained is coming from my "rebuilt" gearbox then its gonna have to be gearbox out and fit a suitable replacement, again this will be a winter job as I can live with the clunk for another summer.

Newark Kit Car show is on next weekend so might nip over there, classics get in free and theres usually some parts etc that are of interest. Let me know if your going, would be good to meet up.

I usually go to these Dave, so if the weathers fine i'll be taking the stag, can only make sunday tho as i'm out saturdays at the mo watching the Lions,will pm you later in the week about a meet up. If i was'nt on an all day seshtoday i would of come down to have a look at the car, lets hope your car troubles are behind you now

What a cracking show, excellent weather and7 Stags on display, not all together unfortunately but a good turn out anyway.

Paintwork was well admired on my Stag and Rod and Matt who did the work turned up for a look around the show and ended up doing about 4 quotes for various makes of car whos owners were impressed with not only the price I got charged but the quality of the workmanship on my Stag. I can honestly say that this is the first time Ive had any work done on my Stag where the work done has exceeded my expectations. Unfortunately the guys who did the work are VW fans so not what you would call Stag experts. What a shame that some so called Stag specialists dont offer such good service.

Baz, I have some paperwork from Mark re BW auto boxes which he thought you had asked for.

Glad you've had some good work done at last, you've needed it. Feeling really peeved yesterday as i could'nt make it, instead i was sat in the corner of a garden hiding behind sunglasses nursing onemajor hangover trying to get some z'ds.Some of my work colleagues told me today that there was some good looking stags up there.
