    Fathers day weekend

Just thought I would share with you my upcoming weekend
    1. strip hood repair NS front corner which has broken, replace hood
    2. rebuild and replace diff
    3. replace luminition module which has I think finally started breaking down after 23 years use ( so unreliable these things )
    4. muck about with handbrake to try to get "some" retardation
    5. Clean and polish car ready to take it to Show on Sunday

Relax and go to fathers day show at Harewood House Leeds.

anybody else got nothing on this weekend?

I have nothing to do this weekend apart from replacing Brake Callipers, Rear Wheel Cylinders and Stainless braided hoses. Had nothing to do over the last few or more weekends apart from replacing all suspension and roll bar rubber mounts, track rods, rack gaiters, bottom ball joints, drop links. Stripping, cleaning, lubricating and adjusting window and wiper motors, wiper assembly and door glass runners and lift assemblies. Sorting previous owner’s attempts at wiring modifications. Replacing sound proofing ( there was none ). Repairing soft top frame. Removing and cleaning petrol tank, treat boot floor while tank was out. Remove under seal, treat a few surface rust areas ( Car very good, main reason I purchased it ) reapply new underseal, squirt waxoyl into every orifice ( on the car ) that I could find. Change engine oil and filter, spark plugs, thermostat, coolant, engine and gearbox mounts. Sort distributor vacuum advance and weight problems. Remove rear hubs, adjust rear wheel bearings, clean lubricate drive shafts, replace shaft gaiters. Modify P.I. linkage, find vacuum leaks, set up valves, timing and P.I. system ( 2.5 straight six engine ) so engine now runs very well. Sort leaking power steering. Fitting lights on warning buzzer. Fitting overdrive disconnect when reverse selected relay ( easier than trying to get at the gearbox switch ). I am starting to look forward to a weekend when I can find something to do to stop me getting bored. There a couple of issues with the paint, I have been thinking should I do a complete re-spray or just tidy it, maybe that would stop me getting bored. Off on a cruise around the med end of next month so I will have a think about the paint while sunning myself. Paintwork is the easy bit as I have access to full facilities including spray booth with oven. I know, I will have to take care with the temperature, oh dear, looks like I have already decided to do it. It could be me being a “picky sod” as it is more than reasonable and others have said why bother as it looks fine. I will have get to one of the get togethers down this part of the world ( I know Dave I have been saying that for ever ) and see what other Stag owners think. Have a week off next week so I will see if I can find something to do on the Stag to stop me getting bored. If weather report correct I should be able to practice lying in the sun.

Going to Tetbury, Gloucestershire and an open air concert from the Modfather, Mr Paul Weller.

Taking the Stag with a bootrack, the wife and kids - off friday morning and back monday, so despite reports of the cottage we've rented having free wireless internet, you may hear nothing from me for a few days........ I will take the lappy as I live in hope that the internet exists there, and I can watch my own TV recordings from home via Slingbox when the kids have crashed out and we're stuck indoors......

Happily someone is staying over and looking after my stupid moggy for me....

If I did, do you think I could be quiet about it?

I happen to like the Moggy Minor, and would happily own one (as an addition rather than in place of a Triumph) but what I am lumbered with as a Moggy, dumps fur all over the furniture and makes a disproportionate amount of noise for his size....

My father tidied up a Traveller many years ago. Almond Green. I did kinda like it! The longest drive we did in it when was I drove it to work, about 4 miles. It overheated .

Many years ago when I was seventeen my dad offered me his old Moggy Minor as he was upgrading to a flash Hillman Minx that had been resprayed in Ford Modena Green which is very similar to Java. Anyway my reaction to his kind offer was "I dont want that bl**dy thing" and went on to buy a very rusty Mk 1, 2 dr Escort in Saluki Bronze with a white Mexico style stripe. Would jump at the chance to own that Minor now and the Escort for that matter.

Don re your comment about being a picky sod I got accused of the same about my Stag paintwork. DaftI know but everytime I looked at my car all I could see were the bits I was not happy with. Just had some repairs done and Im well chuffed with the result, more so than when I had the car bare metaled a few years ago. SoI say do it if its gonna make you happier with the car, providing itsnot off the road all summer.

                  Hi Dave,

It would only take me a few days as I havea friend who ownsa professional bodywork company and will let me use any and all of their equipmentand get one of his guys to help although I prefer to do the spraying myself, just let the professionals do the hard prep work.

I know, I am trying to talk myself into doing it. How sad ???.
