    P, M, E or T ?

On Sunday at the Bromley show someone talked to me about their running temperature. Cant remeber why we got around to this subject but they said that the car didnt move from the M on the temperature guage once warm. At the time this meant nothing to me but I used the stag today for the trip to Gatwick and I am definately a rock-steady E.

Depends which way up my grill is! It's upside down at present so I'm "E"

        Hi Raoul,

I am glad that you are an E as well. What happens with the grill then? How does that effect things?

A while ago "Pommie Stag" asked which way up ther grill was supposed to be, there is a wider slat and a narrow slat on the top or bottom of the centre section of the grill. It turned out my grill was on upside down so I changed it. Last week I took my car for a long drive (350 ks) to Townsville and noticed that the needle was firmly over the "M". I thought (panicked)this unusual so after checking for coolant leaks and the coolant level, I realised the only thing I had changed was the position of the grill.

I turned it around, I got a few looks as I didn't move the badge! On the drive home the needle was back in it's normal position above the "E" I did post this, but I think there are a few who think I'm winding them up!

I'm not sure if it should make that much difference but I'm going to do a few runs with a temp probeattached to the coolant temp sensor on the engine tosee what readings I get with the grill off, on and inverted.

I'm presently wondering if my gauge is very sensitive between the "E" and "M"

I have a 78C thermostat, electric fan, no engine driven fan, an extra core in the radand louvred bonnet.

              regards,

              Raoul

                  Hi Raoul,

thats interesting - do you have any pictures? Mine is squeezed back in the garage with the nose against the wall and a car behind it - but would love to compare over the weekend.

Mine's been up to P before (and above!!:shock, but since I did the head gaskets and fitted the header tank it's a lot more stable and around the E is normal.

funny you should say this because i kept watching my gauge on sunday while waiting to get into bromley and it stayed on the E all the time

This is great news - 100% e - I thought I had the frigid stag, clearly not!
