Sold Stag today. A car that never lived up to expectations. Despite being relatively trouble free after i rebuilt it I grew to hate it with a passion. Its now gone and I almost broke even. Best wishes to Paul who bought it, a good car but not for me

I dont know what went wrong, The last car i restored i kept 10 yrs and loved it. The Stag just felt too fragile and just not quite right somehow. I dont regret time/cash spent as it was an experience and the car turned out well, looked good and nearly got me into a fight.
A couple walked by the car and the bird (a real minger) sang "your cars so **** its unbelievable" I pointed out that it was better looking than she was, her chap asked me to repeat that, so I did, adding that ugly as she was he was uglier now F*** off. Well I had to get out the car and seeing the size difference the bird pulled the chap away and i told her she should`ve kept her mouth shut and to look in the mirror before dissing folk.
The guy who bought it loves Stags and having been to see a good few (he wanted blue with a tan interior) and reckoned mine was by far the best.
I had support in the form of Russell who was present during the deal and was looking for some crumbs but the guy wanted the lot.
I will not be released from Stags as Russell wants some work done on his but whether i can bring myself to have a white auto in my garage after previous posts.
Now starting my own business carrying out mobile caravan servicing and repair (part time initially) some people just dont like the hassle of dragging their `van to a dealer 20+ miles away. I am a member of the National Caravan Council and working towards Approved status which will allow me to do warranty work at your house/site

Classic.....PMSL .
Well done, wish I had the bottle for that. Whatever you do, keep contributing to this forum, and I fully understand your concerns over a white auto in your garage .

Ive only just realised this topic was here!! I have to say that i was sorry that Dougie had decided to sell his Stag, expecially after all the blood sweat and tears that went into the car, but listening to his reasons it just wasnt the car for him.
I have to say though Dougie is a great guy and did a smashing job of restoring that car, Its certainly a fabulous example and Paul, thechap who bought the car, has certainly bought a great one and enjoy it im sure he shall.
Its true i doubt Dougie's garage will escape the prescence of a certain White Auto at some point!!! You see i think Dougie secretly loves white Autos and im sure it would be a different story if hed restored one of these beasties (i can comfortably say this as im a few miles away from him at present, but sure ill get some stick for this comment when i next see him!!!)
Best wishes Dougie, and to Paulwith hisSafron machine.
I amPaul the guy who has bought the mellow yellow car from Dougie. So far we are very pleased with it and hope that it isn't a fragile one. Time will tell. As Russell says we have got really nice motor that is a credit to Dougie. We hope to use it a lot but not abuse it. In this way hopefully the fragile bits won't manifest themselves.
I think Russell may be disappointed in hoping Dougie will accept a white automatic into his garage as he sold me all the unf taps, dies and helicoils. I hope to never need to use them.
