Heater valve

I have read about people struggling to get these apart but yesterday mine decided to fall apart! Was out having a good drive and was sure I could smell anti freeze:shock:

Checked it out and found that the heater valve was coming out -it was only dripping which was lucky as the rubber seal was out and the linkage was the only thing holding it in - some how the end of the operating arm that goes round the shoulder and holds the valve in was bent and did not engage with the shoulder - I have no idea how this could have happened - the heater has never been stiff and now I have bent it back it seems to be fine - fingers crossed:?. If it had blown out completely it would have been fairly unpleasant!

that was a lucky escape could of had a touch of hot foot there.

mine refuses to budge and just weeping so im going to have another go this week when i get time.but made a bypass out of some copper tube in case the worst happens and i wreck it least i can stay on the road.
