    Windows

    Dear All

Please forgive what may be a dumb question froma newbie, but I bought my first Stag only 3 months or so ago, and both windows have stopped working a few weeks ago. As there seems to be no fuse responsible for the windows (I have just changed all in the engine bay), a quick look in the Haynes manual suggests it might be the lift motor circuit breaker (hoping both motors wouldn't die at same time!)

So first question is, where is the circuit breaker located in the car? Is there one unit, or one per motor? Is this a part which can/should be replaced? For information, when I got the car, the windows were working, but very slowly.

    Many thanks

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew

The window circuit breaker is located on the relay plate behind the parcel shelf - just remove and connect the two cable together, then try the windows? if they work you can get one from most suppliers.

      Thanks Gary

I removed the Lucar connector and rubbed it and put back on.
Windows work again (for now! - what confidence!) The passenger side one goes down about a third and needs to be helped down rest of way. Going back up it does it under its own steam. Drivers side is somewhat similar.

In the meanwhile, if you have either the workshop manual or Haynes handy, on pg.134 of the latter volume, Fig 10.17 - what are we looking at here? What part of this diagram is the actual Window Lift Circuit breaker? A replacement one from Rimmers is about £20, I was just curious what I'm likely to get for my money?

By the way my component mounting panel (if this is what the item is in Fig 10.17) doesn't have as many components on as the one shown in the manuals! I wonder if I'm missing anything important?!

      Cheers

      Andrew

        Hi Andrew

The part No is 151244 a lot of the parts shown are for the US version and are not fitted to UK spec cars (UK Spec detailed below).

The circuit breaker is a protection device that will stop thewindows ifthey feel resistance (Childs hand in window etc) so if it works OK then you do not need to replace it as it will not improve your window operation.

Search the forum and there is some good advice on the windows such as Silicon lubricant in the channels, clean earth cablesand a well greased channel and freelift roller.

        Hope that helps

            Hello everybody,

as only my nearside window motor does nor work from time to time, may I assume it is not a "window circuit breaker" problem?

That window goes down easily, but refused to close sometimes. Only after some knocking on the door panel it starts to move up.

Kind regards from sunny and hot SW Germany, Dieter
