    MOT failed

    Only just though

Failed on leaky exhaust joints - need some sealer all the way through.

Offside outer headlamp not working properly adversley affecting beam image - this was a new one from ebay. I had some more delivered this morning from SVC to replace the ebay ones but they sent me 7" lights by mistake:X:XSo had to put the ebay one on instead.

    Both wiper blades need replacing

Handbrake efficiency!!!! - Obviously did not adjust well enough, will try again.

Service brakes only on 47% instead of 50% minimum - probably not bedded in yet, only managaed 1 mile on the new linings etc.

Advisory issued on all wheel bearings.

As well as this I have another electrical problem as the engine stopped twice on the way to the mot and once on the way back:shock:

All 3times it was the overdrive fuse blown, which must be controlling either the fuel pump or the inertia switch - replace the fuse and it started again. Need to work out what is going on there.

    So not too bad really.

      Hey Al,

that could have been much worse.......slap some exhast sealer on the joints, you'v got the lights, double-check the h/brake adjustment (i'd never condone driving the car some more to bed them in ) and some new wiper blades and you are sorted

      on the road for Sunday

Al have you got your electronic ignition wired up to theoverdrive fuse?

Mine was when i first brought it and every time i engaged the OD the fuse would blow and the engine would cut out, i moved the feed to theelectronic ignition another fuse which solved the cutting out problem but the fuse would still blow when the OD was used, butfitting a relay to the OD circuit soon solved that problem

Stu E, I think you may have hit in something there.
My electronic ignition feed is taken from the o/d fuse.
It seemed to me that the fuse was blowing after I got into fourth gear not when the o/d was engaged :?
On the way back from the mot I was trying the o/d to see if it worked and it did, without blowing a fuse.

I am thinking there must be a bare wire somewhere which is shorting out when the gearstick is in the fourth gear position.

          Will report what I find.

            Al

It could be your gear stick wires shorting out but i would still fit a relay in the OD circuit under the wodden console trim, the fuse can blow because of the difference in wire thickness between the OD wires and the gear stick switch wires

            I wired mine like this

              Thanks again Stu E:dude::dude:

I will be nipping down to Halfrauds in the morning so will pick one up.

Where do wiper blade rubbers come from - the usual suppliers or Halfrauds as well?

Halfrauds wiper refills are ok and they fit stainless steel frames.

If you want original type rubbers then Paddocks or LD`S

Well done. Very minor points in comparison with what you have done. You deserve a lap of honour at Brands next weekend.

All failed items are now sorted.
Going to have to give it a bit of a tune up tomorrow evening, as having blocked up all the holes in the exhaust it's running worse now than it did when I took it to the mot:shock:

Retest booked for Tues 4.40 pm.
