Due to the hot weather, wifey decided I ought to use the opportunity to give the Spitfire a bit of a run and take it too work.

Oh.... and as the Stag would just be sitting in the garage, she may as well use it herself...

Cost me a bloody fortune in fuel so far this week, and I suspect this may be the thin end of the wedge...:?

Still, at least it will make things easier when accounting for the 'little expenses' in running the Stag!!

Credit where it's due though - she found the fuel pump, little tap or two and she was away again.

Does anyone know about Stag fuel pumps...

Mine doesn't match the one in the ROM - similar but the contacts arrangement is different. There's a nut/screw in the middle that moves the whole contact assembly up and down, but can't see how to set the gap referred to in the ROM. Am I right in assuming you use this nut to align the contacts and don't worry about the gap?

It was all a bit black, so I'm guessing that contributed to my dear wifes predicament?

Hi Roger,

The one in mine wasn't as per the ROM either, it was a similar design and branded as 'Hardi'.

I cleaned mine up and smoothed the points down flat. Then took the other end off so I could push down the diaphram ans see if the points opened and closed.

I put it back in the car and... it didn't work! It made the right noise, but very fast and continuous. After that it was just trial and error on the adjustment screw until it worked fine. That was back in February and it is still running fine.

They sell anything at my local takeaway.

I did find the fibre washers a bit chewy though!
