    Your Opinion

    Hi All

I am contemplating selling the Stag but I am unsure on what price to ask considering the current economic climate?

The car is valued at £11K by the club and since then I have added new front suspension, frontdiscs,S/H good soft top & frame, new splash panel and paint.

Full service including new green leads. Plus recently fitted 3.45:1 diff.

Bodywork is A+ condition as is the interior except for the driver seat which really needs new foam and covers.

Do you think I could get £9.5K for it? If not there would be no point selling it.

Why would you want to do that after everything you have done to it lately??

      Hi Al

To be honest I have lost interest with the car and my job is really not good at the moment. I work in cutting tool sales and the W Mids has been desimated by the recession with turnover on my area down by 63%:shock:compared to last year.

At the current business level I do not expect to have a job for much longer so I suppose I am just preparing for the worst. The first 2 days of this month I recieved no orders and I have to do £1500 a day to keep my job:shock:.

Sorry to hear things are not good - fingers crossed for you. I do not think any of us are doing very well at the moment.

I am not sure how much values have fallen - i would have thought you would have got that a year ago no problem - worth a try as it is A1? I always think the good ones will tend to hold their value better?

Really sorry to hear that Stu.
This time last year I had two employees and two subbies helping me out, now it is just me and one employee. Luckily one employee left of his own accord, which saved me the horrible job of 'letting him go'.

Best of luck for your future whatever you decide

Sorry to hear that Stu, the sooner things pick up the better. As Giles said, fingers crossed for you - times certainly are tough.

I have seen a few higher valued Stags for sale recently so it looks like people are still prepared to pay for really decent cars. It seems a shame to sell such a gorgeous car though...

Sorry to hear things are not good, i am a subcontractorelectrician and at the moment i have to take next week off pending the start of the next job. I like to think that the stag is a investment and only sell if things become really tight, hope you decide to keep your car and all works out ok.

                  Stu ,

have you lost interest in it because it's almost as you want it and you have nothing left to tinker with? There seems to be a few peopleloosing interest with there Stags at the moment (i'm not one of them)which is a shame.

Did you see the one on piston heads which wasbought for£12k from Spring Grangethen had ZF and tubular manifolds fitted ,the guy lost his job and it was up for £9.5k:shock:.Plus all the ones you were flaging up that were cheap,it cant be thetime to sell if you can help it.

                  Cheers Steve

                    Hi Stu,
Sorry to hear about your situation, i'm always dubious about club valuations being reflective of actual sale prices, if you do eventually decide to sell try the usual internet sites and Classic Car Weekly.

If your car is truely A1 then i'd have thought you'd be able to get £8-9K even in the current climate, but you'll only find out what the market is like when you actually try to sell........ perhaps a big Topaz fan will contact you from the forum and make you an offer you can't refuse !

hope you won't need to go down the sale path.......Andy
