Rear Wheel Camber

I am doing complete restoration of my Stag. Since replacing the rear suspension, it has had loads of positive camber on the rear wheels. I assumed this to be due to the car being light as the engine and gearbox were not fitted.

I fitted them engie and gearbox yesterday and it has made no difference. Rear suspension has had all new poly bushes, springs, shocks including new subfrane arms and cannot see why it should be so far out.

I still need to fit the interior etc, but the majority of the weight must now be in the car.

Has anybody got any bright ideas?

Could add photos ifit would help.

Have yopu rolled the car back a few feet then back to the original position? I noticed the same after I had jacked the car off the ground and it needed to move before the suspension 'reset' itself.

Yes, done that - didn't seem to make any difference.

Just checked the car height. It looks way too high 460mm front and 430mm rear, measured from centre of wheel to wheel arch.

Wonder if it could be the springs, all four are new but purchased as standard.

Just measured mine and they are about 365mm back and front. My springs have covered 170k so may have settled a bit but yours sound much too high.

When youreplaced all the bushes have you tightened all the fixingswith no weight in the car? Maybe you have locked the suspension at a raised height. You could try loosening the bolts then roll the car backwards and forwards and maybe it will settle the suspension to it's normal height. Then retighten the bolts without taking the weight off the wheels.

The bolts which fix the trailing arms are still not tight as I was aware of this potential issue.

This I will have to see what happens when I complete the car and whether it settles to the right height. If it doesn't then probably need to start with the springs.
