    rear suspension

Has anyone fitted the rear track control kit manufactured by monarch thinking of fitting the kit to my stag.Trailing arms at present fitted with rubber bushes reluctant the change them to poly(did this on my tr6)as the roads around here are terrible and they then shake your teeth out.

    Hi Bob

RogerP has an anti roll bar fitted at the rear of his car, real fun round corners with the backstepped out!!

I have seen it and it looks well engineered, but IMO I don't think the poly bushes in the trailing arms should increase harshness so long as you keep soft bushes in the rest of the rear suspension.

I have rear track control on my car it's not a monarch kit it's one that I made myself, and also have a rear anti-roll bar fitted. Are you suffering from rear end twitch? or have you got other problems.

Hi Les, Have you any details/pictures of how you made yours as this was one of my next projects to avoid the twitch and give steadier high speed feel. regards - Jon

Sorry I don't have any drawings or measurements of the set up, never thought any body else would be interested. But I do have some pics that I will post for you, have a look at the set up that I have and if you want any measurements then just let me know what you want, and I will be happy to supply them for you. I am not sure what stopped my rear end twitch because I fitted the track bars and the anti-roll bar at the same time.

Jon can only post 1 pic at a time.

These are old pic's and I have modified the anti-roll bar mounting slightly from this pic if you want more info then let me know.

                      Hi Les

having had tr i know what you mean but i would,nt describe it as a twitch but ther is some movement more like a sway always going to the rear offside also when coming off speed say 70ish i seem to get the same sway the same way.Splines are moving freely on the drive shafts trailing arm brackets all tight have played around with different shock settings(gaz)and it does seem better on a firm setting.

Les, thanks for all the good pictures. a lot of custom made bit of brackets I guess and a nice project, but where did you source the extra track control arms, scrap yard?Landroversteering arms maybe? or a particular cars rear end bits?where for the bush?

                        regards- Jon

Also how is it mounted onto the diff or diff back plate? Is there a bracket mounting to one of the diff bolts or an extra plate welded onto the back plate?

                          Thanks - Jon

I have never experienced that with my stag, what size of tyres do you have fitted. The reason that i ask is that I recently fitted a set of 195/65x15 wheels and tyres to mine and the drive is far better that is ever was on my old sets of 185/70x14 and 195/70x14.

1 ANTI-ROLL BAR The roll bar I have fitted is off a ford escort XR3i (front) I only used the original front mounting rubber bushes and cups ever thing else is my own fabrication including the rear bushes.

2 TRACK BARS All of the track bars are home made including the diff mounting. I made separate housings/mountings that are bolted to the original stag diff mounting plate. The outer mountings are just fabricated up to hold both the anti-roll bar and the track bars. Not long after I fitted the bars I bought a set of rose joints that I intended to fit to the track bars, but my original home made bushes are still doing well after 10 + years so I have not bothered with the rose joints as yet.

                              Les.
