    Carb float chamber

Re-fitted the carbs and both float chambers are now leaking. Guess the time off the car and a clean with Gunk has ruined the 'O' rings. The picture seems different to the manual. The caps just turn - are theseleavered off, and then the plug is underneath? Also, is it possible to change this without stripping everything else?

    Cheers

    Des

You need to unscrew the float chamber and then youwill see how to get the bungs out. Careful not to break the tabs.

      Des,

As far as I can remember I just pulled the plugs out of mine. (I was doing a carb rebuild at the time so I may well have had the chambers off as well, but I don't think that would be necessary. If you do take the chambers off, you may well have to replace the gaskets, mine were well stuck on!

      Martyn,

      Welcome to the Forum.

I am in Dartford as well, finally someone else in the same town as me with a Stag! Have you had it long?

      Regards

      Dave

        Thanks Dave/Martyn

Just ordered gaskets and O rings so will take the float chambers off for a look.

Good luck Des - it's an easy job.

Hi Dave - I've had mine for 21 years.

Blimey! I am at about 20 months!

One of the guys that goes to the SE London N&N has one that I think he has had from new!

Pushed out from the inside. Levering from the outside would have probably damaged the cap.

                Hi,
I had a leaky one of these - simply pulled it out and replaced with a new plug and o-ring with the carb in place - very easy (even for me)

                cheers
