Auto gear box problem

Hello everybody,

Today I reversed out of my garage, set the gear lever into "Parking" position to get out and close the garage door. When I got back in again and set the gear lever into "Reverse" again, the car did not move backwards - nor does it move forward when in "D" or any other position.

I checked the oil level in the gear box. It is all right.

What might be wrong? Perhaps the gear leverage unhooked or whatever. I could not check that yet, as I cannot drive the Stag onto my ramp.

I had the same problem, arrived at a car show, pop it into reverse, reversed into a parking spot, then put it into drive to level up....nothing.....back into reverse....nothing.

Jacked it up, the gear linkage had popped out!

Real simple to just pop back in...the retaining clip was lost though. No problem the car show was the SOC National day so I could buy a new clipHow lucky was I?


I am sure you have the same problem, the clip was something like1 pound (1 euro!)

The problem was exactly as you described: the gear rod was disconnected, as there was no clip.

So glad it was the same problem, when mine went I initially was thinking it was terminal auto box failure!
