    Fuel Tank Pipe Connections

I bought my Stag in April and there has always been a slight petrol smell in the boot which I attributed to the normal Stag ownership experience.

However I've just removed the boot boards and found that there is an outlet pipe on the tank with nothing connected to it. Its on the top of the tank near the fuel gauge float which had a few drops of petrol lying on top of it. All other pipesare connected as shown in the Rimmers catalogue. However the Rimmers catalogue showsthe pipe outlet on page 37 but doesn't show what to connect to it. At the moment I've blanked it off with a rubber bung.

Can anyone tell me what should be connected to this pipe outlet and where I can get one.

    Thanks

Photo of my tank is hopefully attached below.

    Hi Chris
I just had a look at mine and it's also going nowhere,it's blanked off with a piece of hose.

    Cheers

If memory serves me right the metal pipe on top of the tank near the float is then attached via an elbow and another metal pipe to the large rubber fuel filler pipe.

it is basically a breather so that when the tank is filled the air already in it has somewhere to go---Hope this helps

This pipe is for the Federal Stag's fuel return pipe. Not needed on other Stags and should be blanked off with a section of rubber pipe and a bung. Often perishes and is the main cause of fuel vapours in the boot. What you have already done is correct.

Thanks for your replies which have put my mind at rest. There was some debris on the fuel guage float which was presumably the remains of the original bung.

Hopefully I've now fixed my petrol smell problem without any financial outlay.

          Thanks
