EXPANSION BOTTLE

Good Day All,



Expansion bottle , can you advise if the top of the expansion bottle where the pressure cap fits should rotate around its fairly loose - and have problems with pressure (bottle is always full) new pressure cap bought and fitted but still bottle is full and still get a release of air when prssure cap taken off ( when system cooled overnight) no sign of water in the engine no mayo sludge in oil filler cap ?!

would you buy a new expansion bottle to be on safe side

ps car runs ok on temp gauge just below middle and does not go above unless stuck in traffic for long periods but nothing serious..

Hi Steve

Yes, pressure can escape from this seal between the brass neck and the plastic. You coudl remove it and run some resin or similar around the neck and let it set if you dont want to go to the expense ofa new bottle.

You can have the bottle, do you have any trips to Lincoln planned? I don’t mind having a blast down the A46 and meet you there or are you in a hurry? I can always post it.
