    Hi Frostie

Both MK1.5 I have owed had colour painted sills with trims on them.

Although they look good the trims are a rust magnet so would not fit them if I had the choice.

At which point would you call a stag a Mk1 and a half, any specific points to look for?

      Thanks in advance.

        Hi

I suggest you spray the sills with 3M anti chip paint. This gives you a slightly textured finish. Then overpaint with the colour of your choice.

I have used a local sprayshop in Maldon called body-tek .I have had it sprayed the original colour french blue in cellulose as that is what it came from the factory in.I hope to get it back home next week when he has finished polishing etc.If you want to come and have a look sometime you are more than welcome.I would think your car is probably a mark 2 .

I will try to explain ,my car was registered Feb 1973 .I think they used up all the stock of old parts as well as some new ones .The car has black sills black panel where rear lights are .mark 2 seats (removable headrests).mark1 carpets wool not tuffted pile.It also did not have alloy wheels ,steel wheels with hubcaps. The engine is the later version with air intake manifold. It has mark 1 door locks. So as you can see its a mixture !!.I should say I have had the car for 26 years and it had not been altered before I bought it .I hope this hasn't bored you senseless.

I think I will just pant them satin black , found some info on a triumph stag site it says that 1973 stags had a black ripple coating on the sills Your car in the photo looks good.
