I was about to say that too...
Parking tickets are a revenue generating system for the local council, nothing to do with the Police.
Unfortunately the thin blue line has never been stretched so thin.
CCTV is great on programs like 'The bill' where its also zoomed in and follows the criminals around and you watch it on a 50" LCD tv.
The reality is, assuming there is a camera and its facing the right way,the camera willbe in a fixed positionand zoomed out, people appear as fuzzy blobs and although it might show something happening you wont get anything useful from it especially at night and you'll be watching these images on a 20" circa 1990 portable TV.

As Chris here is saying, the thin bue line has never been so thin..... I have several "job" friends and I have terrific sympathy with them. They join to do a decent job, and yet get hobbled by shed loads of paperwork, a poor CPS and smartarse lawyers that get scum off on technicalities......

I agree with what you say,I also have friends and family in the job in the Met and Surrey, but what annoys me is the fact that you hardly ever see a bobby walking the streets locally and when you report a crime theres no one available,in the last year I have had three of my cars broken into on my drive! when its been reported a police officer might visit that day because of lack of resources, then I drive down to Hampton Court to find at least half a dozen police officers with speed guns or the DVLA van:X
