    ZF conversion

    I know this topic has been discussed before but as myself and a few other friends here in Toronto are seriously thinking of installing the the 4 speed ZFin our StagI thought that I would resurrect it.

    Some of our friends have already bought the complete conversion and had it shipped here but with the shipping and the purchase of the conversionit amounts to big $$$$.

    I do recall that some of our more creative (skilled) members have done this conversion relatively inexpensively themselves.

    The stag that I am presently restoring started life as a 4 speed manual and during the ongoing restoration I decided it would be better as a 4 speed with OD. I purchased a used 4 speed with OD (A type)and had it shipped from England to North America. You now know the rest of the story as I have nowchanged my mind again in favour of the ZF.

    Any help or advice on this DIV project would be greatly appreciated

        I would love to have a go at this conversion sounds superb. I've had my auto stag 17 years and the only thing that i have never liked about it is the high revving engine at motorway speeds. In fact when I bought the car and was driving it home I thought that there was something wrong with it because it wasn't changing into 4th!! Duh.
        The only thing putting me off the conversion is the 2K plus price. The gearboxes are available on ebay at well under £100. A complete kit ( Not including the box )with fitting instructions would be great. don't know if anyone is supplying a kit though.

          I have to agree but to have the complete kit shipped to Canada is a huge additional cost. Hopefully I can source some of the main components here and and some of the more critical and lighter one in England
