AS you know i wrote 5 letters. One to each of my Stag's previous owners. Although its only been a week, i always thought the only person that was likely to reply was the chap that owner her the longest (1983 - Jan 2008).
I was right! Got a lovely reply today, made my day. Popped straight into the history file.
"Dear Russell
It was very pleasing to recieve your letter today giving me an update on the life of DEL604L. As you can see i had it a long time and although i had a few major problems over the years my wife and i loved the car, i kept it going on daily running through all weathers. All the year round. I, because of my job, had to use modern reliable cars for catching planes and long journeys.
I am now nearly 79 years old and an ex-engineer, from marine engineering to nuclear reactors in submarines to polaris rockets to a weapon optical alignment specialist where i was sent to Weymouth to work on MOD(N) contracts. But to my great discovery when i bought this house it had a pit, so i was made up!!!
All my neighbours and friends miss Del, for its engine roar, you will have noticed the stainless steel twin exhaust pipes, a lovely sound isnt it?
Unfortunately unless you work on problems yourself, vintage cars are an expensive hobby!!
Always keep an eye on the cooling water, keep it topped up with the right amount of anti freeze.
Thanks again for your letter.
Yours Sincerely
Ron ******* "
How Nice!!! Im going to send him an enlarged framed photo of the car as a thank you. Overjoyed that he took the time to reply.
