Insurance, The Good, Bad & Ugly

Hi, following on from the other Insurance thread, does anyone have anyexperience of,good or bad claims?

I've only made one claim for a new windscreen with RH Classic, very good service - no problems, £50 excess.

Always check that agreed valuation means that,my car was written off some years ago and the insuranceassessor started trying to knock me down on the valuation.

I think the clubs insurance scheme gurantees the agreed valuation amount.

It will be intersting to see how Denis gets on with his insurance company, a favourable payment could mean other stag owners are inclined to go with the same insurance company.

What i hope happens is the car is returned / found safe and well, but the longer it is lost.................

I badly damaged my Stag in Feb 2008. Repair estimates varied from £6k (local classic car specialist) to £5k (Faversham Classics) to £4k (EJWard). The car was insured for £6k and Peter Best valued the damaged car at £1500. We agreed that the car could be repaired at EJW, but as they couldn't fit it in for 3 months, PB paid up the £4k (less £100 excess) by cheque and let me decide what I wanted to do.

They also assisted me in taking a spotty, Corsa-driving youth to court a couple of years earlier. He had side-swiped me and failed to stop. The police weren't interested in following it up :X, so I did and we won .

They will be getting my business again this year.
