    Carb body...aluminium or steel?

I've cleverly managed to strip some of the threads on the carb body while trying to reattach the air intakes. To be able to know the best way of repairing them, I'll need to know whether the body is aluminium or steel. If its aluminium I can probably get away with helicoils. Steel; and its probably better to start all over.

    Thank you in advance

    Aluminium. Helicoils are fine.

It's a really manky alloy, so helicoil is the best route............. if it's the air intake elbow bolts they are 5/16" UNC....

Shame you are not local, as I could lend you a helicoil kit of the right size
