VENT PIPES IN THE BOOT

Just a question , why has the vent pipe from the filler got a filter in it as it goes to atmos?

also on the top of the sender unit I have a pipe connection which has nothing connected to it, what connects to this as I am getting a right niff of petrol in the boot and in the car?

Hi biglad ( is that a boast??) Dunno about the filter, but the extra pipe you have needs blanking off. I had the same problem, some people crimp the end, i used some sealant and a tyre valve cap!

So it can vent to atmosphere, but sh1t, spiders etc can't travel the other way and contaminate the tank.....

If it's the one I think you're referring to, 150835, it just drains water and spilt fuel from the atmosphere side of the filler cap - would be gilding the lily to put a filter on it...

Tomy,

I think the extra pipe which needs to beblanked off is to do with the US version where the breather and/or overflow from the carbs was connected back to the tank. Any fuel is then directed to the tank rather than dumping it on the floor as mine did whenone float failed to close the valve.

Check the vent pipe is connected to the filler hose. Mine was loose and kept falling off so I put a jubilee clip on it.
