Stag mechanic in Berks

Hi All

I'm having problems getting my speedo to work on my 1973 auto. I've replaced the cable but to no avail. I'm told its probably the cog inside the gearbox. I'm getting too old to go climbing under the car, can anyone recommend a good mechanic at reasonable rates near to Reading, Berks.

Also needs new kickdown cale and a good tune up. I feel a second mortgage coming on :shock:

What type of box have you got ?
I will at some point be removing a BW35 and converting to manual so will have all the auto bits sapre... Only thing is the time scale can't promise anything about that..

I know one near St. Albans in Hertfordshire, so a bit of a trek away for you. He and his wife are both Stag owners and he and his business partner have been in the trade for many years.

I don't know of anyone on your doorstep, but you arn't far from N&P at Heathrow - must only be 20miles on the M4 from you.

There is the guy I used who rebuilt my engine in West End near Woking.
He does all sorts of repairs and servicing as well.

Hi

I can recommend the guy who looks after all our cars, including the Stag. He is an old-time mechanic, who actually served his apprenticeship at Standard Triumph London on Stags and TRs.
