Reinforced diff extension housing+ peak inside my diff
So then I took the back off the diff to look for anything obvious, I was bit like a duck looking into a bottle! But again it looks OK to me, what do you lot think?
I'll chance putting it all back with a new pinion seal and quill shaft bearing and see what happens!
If the shiny bits on the four teeth at the top of the photo are mesh running marks, I'd like to see the pinion a little deeper into mesh. It's worth a little effort re-shimming it whilst it's out of the car I'd say.

Adie
I'm not sure about the shiny bits, and I've put the cover back on now!
As soon as Fedex arrive with Stu's quillshaft it's going back in the car, if it's quiet I'll be happy and if it's still noisy out it comes again!!
How's your ZF project going Adie?

I've got a 4HP22 (fleabay £17) but haven't got much further due to work committments I'm afraid. I could really do with a scrap BW35 I think because I want to get a kit together then change rather than stripping the Stag and buggering about for weeks. Off to Spain for a break next week so I'll give it some thought and get on it when we're back.
Well. I got it back in yesterday (single-handed too!!)..... but it still whines at about 50 mph, but not nearly as bad as it did. I'll stick some Molyslip in there while I save up and re-consider the options. At least I know there's nothing about to immenently explode:shock:
