Hi all, this is the hood that Aldridges fitted for me at Uttoxeter, I've been told not to fold it till tomorrow so we'll see, but so far, it really is a cracker. :dude: Martin.

I have to say it was an enormous relief when I met him, and found that he wasn't the apprentice, he gave me some tips about straightening two side bars I didn't even know were bent, and he's a nice guy to boot, I'm very lucky.
The car got covered in hand prints by viewers, but that was half expected, and easy to clean.
I hope they continue this practice at future shows, the hood's complexity makes it a mystery to a lot of us. :dude: Martin.

Hi Paul, i checked with Aldridge before having my hood done. They only open monday to friday, they told me 2 days to fit a hood! But they are always busy in their workshop.

Great looking job. I have a o/s front corner of the frame snapped and want a new hood anyway. Mine would need to be a Mk 1 one. How long did youhave to leave it with him and does he sort out the frame as well? Is the zip a strong substantial one?
Paul
Adrian, unzip the hood before folding, and clean it with plain water, that's it. If it's a quality mohair, after several years the stitching may shrink a bit, then it's worth proofing. Lovely !Martin.

Martin, so long as you lubricate the frame bolts once a year, and check their tightness, that should help prevent early frame failure. most bolts should have locknuts to prevent them loosening and falling out. Also make sure the torsion springs are securely anchored in the correct channels otherwise they can get caught in the frame mechanism.
I have seen so many variations of twisted frames as a result of bolt siezure you would think they have been attacked by a crusher!!
