    SOCTFL Windscreen Rain channels

Can anyone explain to me why these are so expensive? I know they fit better than other replacements that cost £17.50 but £45 a side! :shock:I can buy a front valance which is far bigger, more complex and has far more material for less.

Does anyone know the story behind the tooling funds involvement because if they paid for part or all of the tooling cost then we are being ripped off by someone.

The item is a very simple part to make requiring only the smallest of presses and a tiny amount of raw material so i ask again why so expensive?

Cant answer you I am afraid Alan but I do agree. On the face of it it looks as if we are being ripped off

Having said that, i do know that getting an item tooled and manufactured from scratch to oem spec is a costly business and its only inevitable that it gets passed back at some point to the customer, perhaps initially until tooling has become cheaper with increased orders.

Who knows. Thats my probably wonky take on things.

Cost me even more as Ive still got the non SOCTFL panels in the garage, no where near the shape of the originals so had no choice but to buy the SOCTFL panels at least they fit and are decent quality, agree they are over priced for what they are though.

          Hi all

Sitting here in the Vendee region of France at the minute, just left the pool and the temperature is 32 in the shade !

Why im logging onto the forum when the Stag is back at home im not sure...

However just wanted to respond the the above question. As we all hopefully know SOCTFL will develop a product and potentially fund a project to get it to market.

Unfortunatley we have no influence on the selling price on these products once they come to market, especially several years as is the case with this item. If you are fitting the item yourself then yes there may be a big difference in the overall cost, however if you speak to the majority of stag bodyshops they will tell you that the time you save in fitting a SOCTFL part and hence labourwill outway any cost difference in its purchase and as already pointed out you know that you are getting a quality part.

Speak to your parts supplier, or shop around and see what price you can get, its not a fixed cost and you may find them cheaper in sme places.

Oh well back to the wine and the sunset .........its a hard life
