As some of you are probably aware i have recently undertaken a few tasks involving the water pipes as well as the carbs. Though these may have seemed like only minor problems, i had not fixed the car in between posts, simply had been waiting on parts as well as the weather. After much trouble i have now completed the jobs and at long last i managed to start her up yesterday evening. Though unfortunately this presented a problem with the choke sticking, causing the car to idle at a rather large 2500 revs. After once again removing the air filter box i attacked the problem area and resolved it.
This morning, after a careful wash and polish, she started once again. I took her for a nice run to a good friends in the forest of dean, my paranoia coming along for the ride. Every knock and bump and noise of a squeaky belt i heard from the white vans on the road raised my suspicions about my car preparing to blow. Though once i had reached his house it seemed to whittle down to a sticky throttle, which was resolved by me opening the bonnet and merely looking at it.
We set off, heading for the usual destination of Lydbrook. A place i would strongly recommend visiting should you be in the area. I initially parked up with no problem and began to enjoy the river scenery. Quickly changing my mind about my parking job, i jumped back in the car and decided to move it to a location from which i could admire it more. During said move, my peddle became suspiciously bouncy to which i instantly assumed the cable had snapped. Though fortunately i was mistaken, the cable had jumped away from the peddle and just needed to be slotted back in. A mistake of my doing as i had given it too much slack.
The journey back was a hassle free and peaceful drive. She now sits on my driveway, ready to do my bidding. I am infinitely happy about the end result and look forward to my next mini project.
Thanks to everyone on the forum who had shown an interest and helped with my many follies. The result of your aid has ended up with my realising that i don't always have to take my car to the dodgy fellow down the road to have it fixed and that i am capable of doing it myself.
Below is a picture of my car at the Lydbrook river view car park for all to enjoy.
