anti-vibration straps

Anyone out there got thier carpets up? Do me a favour and measure the distance from the heal board out to the centre of the screw hole in therectangular backingplate, to which the anti-vibration strap fixings are secured from under the floor.

If its as I suspect the plate should near enough nessel up to the heal board providing a restraint against turning when tightening from below.

Hoping to drill the holes tommorow evening, so no rush .

I never thought of those straps as "anti-vibration straps". Is that their real purpose.

When i had a bit of welding done on mine i had to redrill 1 hole, thesquare nut fitted tightly up against the heel board and inner sill onthe other side so i redrilled it match

Hi John

have just measured up.

If you have the bolt and the captive locking plate, then this runs up against the back and along the edge of the flat areaof the floor pan andlength ways it runs parallel to the sill.

If not, thenthe centre of the bolt is 3/4 inch from the back and 1/2 inch from the side being measured from the start of the flat area of the floor pan.

Sorry about the poor quality photo. Some one mentioned that the plate is captive but on both of mine the plate is loose and looks thicker than the one in the other photo

Thanks Dave, the plate is 'loose' that is not attached to the floor, but is captive in so far that its prevented from turning due to its proximity to the heal board. The orientation of yours is 90 deg from Andrews, I think his is right, however lets put it to the populous to decide!
