    What would you do?

As some of you know our 3rd child was born 2 weeks ago, so we are now a family of 5 with 3 children under under the age of 5

I have been giving the stag some serious thought as to whether sell or keep it

Fitting the 3 children in the back with their car seats is a no goer, with thewife in the back with the eldest 2 is still very tight and would be they uncomfortable on any journey of any distance

So should i keep the stag in the garageand use when possible which wouldn't be very often at all, or sell her for someone else to enjoy and maybe move on to something else

Over to you guys for advice

I would not get rid of the Stag, you would only regret it. Could you afford a 2nd car as a Family runaround - something reliable , not too dear, but with plenty of room for all of you. SORN the Stag in the Winter so it is not costing you then, and just enjoy it in the Summer.

The stag is my second car, i have my mondeo for every day use so i have no issues on that score, it's just whether i should do the sensible thing or keep her the garage to look at and maybe use every now and then

It's one of them headV heart questions:X

Hiya Stu, as you say, it's a head V heart thing. I don't think many of us buy the Stag for "sensible" reasons, they're beautiful to look at, and do what they do better than most things. If you can afford to keep it, do.

Do you really want to be one of the people who says "I used to haveone of those"? A very difficult decision mate, I don't envy you. :? Martin.

          Stu,

I would keep it and use it as often as family allows. This is in fact my situation now. I'm not sure you would find something with 5 seats that you would enjoy. My choice would be a Jag XK but again, that's 4 seats.

However, a note of caution. The stag is a 4 seater and insured as such. Fitting 5 incould wellcause issues with insurance and the plod.

sell the stag and buy a motorbike, you will need to get out on your own - away from the noise lol, and on a bike there are no spare seats so problem solved

              Hi,

It all depends on how much you like your car, how much have you spent on it would you find the same again if you where to replace it at a later stage.

As the older members are now getting to an age where the Stag has to go because of hip replacements, poor sight, etc etc, there will all ways be good replacements around

I myself in the same position kept the car, It was always nice to get away from the kids etc and have some quality time with the Stag.

              Only you know the answer

              Regards

              Steve

                Thanks for your comments

The money is not the issue as i doubt i would get back what i have put in but you never do, and yes i could soon find something else to spend the cash on but wouldn't we all

The whole reason i bought the stag wasso that we as a family could get enjoyment out of her, but now that is now the problem we can't, as Tim says the stag is a 4 seater and would be no doubt frowned upon by the law makers if caught with 5 people in

After a good chat with the wife I'm going to have a nose round to see if there is anything else out there something along the lines a sprint maybe or a 2 seater that takes my fancy, if not the stag will be staying put

i would say keep it, as in a few years time you will prob find that not all of you go out at the same time, like we did with the girls growing up and not wanting to go to shows or drives with us and staying with others for the day, you can always re-think about it later, its not as if you are going to lose any money on it by selling now.its just my opinion.

If you are thinking of a two seater then it openers up all sorts of opprtunities for you. If you wanted to stay with Triumph, GT6, TR5, TR6, TR7 all spring to mind. However, what stops you keeping the Stag as using it as the equivalent of a two seater?

                      Hi Stu

I waited 27 years, until my family were all over 18 before I bought my first Stag. I have no regrets about waiting so long, but now the car I have is even more cherished - and I can afford to do the things I want to do.

My advice is to enjoy your family - they come first (and always will). There will be time for the Stag later, when you have time to really enjoy it.

                      Regards

                      Dave

                        Keep it!

I have a Lotus Elise as well as the Stag, both toy cars as I and the Mrs both have company cars fortunately.

The Stag I have had since 86, the Elise I bought 6 years ago. I always fancied an Elise, and as the Stag owed me nothing, and having two company cars with no family we could afford it.

Fast forward 6 years and we now have two kids, so the Stag is still usable as a family car at weekends. The elise....

....well I still use the elise, and suprisingly I have used it more this year now we have two kids compared to when we had one. There is plenty of opportunity for me to use it alone and also with my eldest daughter to kids parties/swimming classes etc.

It makes no economic sense what so ever to have either car, fortunately both are static depreciation wise.

Its an old saying, you are a long time dead!

                        Mike.

Id deffo keep. I only use the Stag sparingly in the dry but it makes it so much fun when it does come out. Youd regret the sale.
