    Replacement fuel pump

    Hi

Having noted that the fuel pump seems to be a weak point on Stags I looked at ebay for a spare. There seems to be several alternatives ranging from Facit Posi flow Universal pump kit @ £34, Another @ £56 suitable for Stags E types etc, Popys oldshop has one @£72 and Premier Motor Factors @£100. A s/h one went for £23.35 on ebay. Ther is also a Fuel pumps on Line that seems to stock a variety.

Does anyone have experience they can share of the quality/reliability etc of the new ones on offer?

Quinton Hazel pumps are the best, better than the original SU pump IMHO. Beware of the cheap black plastic bodied pumps, they sound like a machine gun in the boot and don't last long. I had one a while back, lasted about two months.

Watch out for high pressure fuel pumps (some Facets etc), they can cause flooding of the carbs.

I fitted a QH one to mine last year-- very pleased-- about £50.00 on e-bay

I think I may be in line for a fuel pump, Mine is not ticking like it used to and the fuel filter is no longer full of fuel, I have no issues at the moment, but it always used to tick and there was always a full filter !

Think it's time to get a spare... this one is a proper SU one thats only 18 months old, the water pump failed recently too, are spare parts that badly made that they have a life of just 18 months?
