Any one in the South Wales (Swansea) area know whereI could take my Stag for a check on the engine tuning? Have done all the usual things, plugs, coil, dist timing,etc but feel the engine is not producing the power it should and think the carbs may need balancing butI am not sure.
Have read the forum notes on flow meters. My local garage (stag owner)don't have the equipment.
One name springs to mind in the S. Wales area - Andrew Puddifer. Long time garage owner in Newport,Stag enthusiast and Stag repairer, maintainer. Also a member of the SOC. Last number I had for him was: Tel: 01633 243205

Hi Stan - it's not just the equipment, it's knowing how to tune twin or multiple carbs.... it's a bit of a lost art and usually it's only older small garages, the old ex-trade people (like me) and some talented owners that can still do it properly.
I can remember tuning V12 E types with 4 strommies in the workshop - now that was a job and a half! Stag's, Dolomites and the twin carb cars were a doddle after that...

Andrew Puddifers email is a.puddifer@virgin.net not sure if he's on forum but he is an active member in S Wales area,he looks after the co-ordinator's stag.
Andrew's garage can be quite difficult to find, so if you are going there I would be happy to meet up with you at a convenient point just off the motorway and escort you there. I only work Tues - Thurs so Mondays and Fridays are good.
That is a very kind offer. SinceI lasted posted a message, Paul our area organiser,
has recommended Mistermatic in Swansea, a Jag specialist but happy to take in Stag's. I have spoken to John at Mistermatic and he has two Stag's in the workshop at present so have arranged to talk with him next week when he has more space.
Another friend, an ex Jag owner, speaks highly of mistermatic too!

Problem is Graham thatI am new to Stags. As a young man I would happily strip engines, change clutches etc for in the long and distant pastI wasa practising engineer. But time has moved on and us old codgers (me anyway) take time to learn new skills and ways. That's my excuse. Off course it could be that when we were younger we bloody well had to do it because we could not afford garages .
I have only had my Stag a couple of months and am still finding way around it if you know whatI mean. It has become somewhat of a dominant feature of my life.

Let me know where you are (I am from Carmarthen) and i am more than happy for you to bring the car to me or i can bring my Carb Balancer and show you how to balance the carbs, very easy job once you have been shown.
Sorry,I have been off the internet for a few days. I live near Abercrave in the Upper Swansea Valley. Halfway between Swansea and Brecon. Unfortunately I have arranged for the Mistermatic chap to look at the car, a friend andI are taking it in 9am tomorrow,
However It was very nice of you to offer, are you going to the club meeting on the 29th of this month, 7.15pm at the Glamorgan Arms Pontlliw? It would benice to meet you and perhaps I could pick you brains and arrange a tuition some time.
