Has anyone fitted a Paddocks soft top and J brackets for soft top

If you have is it a good end result? overall quality? or should i not bother and carry on fitting the double duck one i got for a steal on ebay many months ago.

Paddocks seem to be the only guys offering a hood with a beige interior trim?

Does anyone have a sketch of the corect shape of the "J" brackets on the hood frame as one of mine is definitely bent and i am dubious about the other.

Can they also be reshaped cold successfully? if not ill have to wait for the farrier to put it in his furnace to reshape it.

Oh and any other tips for the soft top fitting re-con?

    Thanks again

I was also wondering on the original shape of the J Parts. Mine is now scuffing the rear seat edges and has to be eased past them so as not to cause any damage. I am sure they are bent but the odd thing is that the hood works fine once past these two points.

I have just fitted a Paddocks cover and I was happy with the quality and fit. I fitted a black/black one, but they do also supply black/beige ones which I am informed are also very good, and I dont think you willget a better price elsewhere.

The J leg can be reshaped by bending cold within reasonable limits;the metal is not hardened. I have some pictures of the J leg but I am not sure they will help unless yours are severly bent.

I see from the above that you are pleased with the Paddocks hoods and understand that you are an expert onfittinghoods and I have actually had a price from you re fitting a new hood to my Stag. Getting My Stag to you is an issue (distance) and I have found an excellent trimmer in Lincoln who is willing to fit a hood to my Stag.

If price were not an issue whose hoods would you fit? Im after a quality hood as only 2 years ago I paid £800+ to have my frame reconditioned and a new mohair hood fitted by a Stag specialist who claimed it was top German quality, its never been waterproof and the zipper failed shortly after the hood was fitted and its now started to wear through above the windscreen header, hence the need to replace it. Dont want to make the same mistake again and buy an inferior quality hood and would value your advice or any other forum members re the best hood suppliers .

              Hi Dave

I would recommend Aldridge trimming as well, as I have used their covers. They are a reputable trimming company, and I would be very surprised if they sell any sub-standard stuff.

              Cheers

Hi Dave ,i fitted an aldridge mohair hood some weeks ago and was impressed with the accuracy of size and positioning of cross tube wraps ,a really good product.p.s the side frame velcro strips are worth the extra as they sew side strips to them for glueing so when you pull the hood off the strips stay in place.Hope this helps.Colin Hanney.

Thanks Vmad i may as well take the splash then, although the double duck i have is a crown hood and appears to be first class quality i don think i would be happy with a plastic hood in 40 deg cel heat in summer to hot for top down driving on soft Pommie thinning hair/bald spot

I did remember seeing some pictures of correct shaped J brackets and have been searching for them but alas could not find them.

So yes please ANY pics of how to refit the cover tips or absolutely anything would be much appreciated downunder. Chris do you know if the original fit for a 77 would have had a beige interior to the hood or would it have been black car should be Carmine and Beige interior originaly?

I did approach a trimmer hear but wow rather costly and they mainly do Boats but would have a go at a car if we liked!

                  Thanks again Guys
