Hi Guys & Gals, As a new member to the club I would like to know if the SOC is planning a presence at Classic Le Mans 2010.
Peter
Hi Peter,
Yes, we are putting together an SOCtrip to the Le Mans Classic next July. I announced it in the April 09 magazine under my 'Events' column, and I've putsome more details, which will bein the next edition of the magazine, for those that are still making their minds up. Several members have signed up, but we've still got a few rooms left. We're organising it through Continental Car Tours; we have to for legal reasons, as they are bonded travel agents, and the SOC isn't, and we're staying at the Ibis Hotel in the town centre of Le Mans, which is close to the restaurants etc. If you fancy joining us, I'm sure CCT can do you a hotel-only deal, as I'm sure you won't need the ferry package. We are also getting a good deal on the entrance tickets (this is separate to the CCTpackage), which gives us track-side parking with other Triumphs, grandstand and pit lane entry. Send me a PM if you need further details, or my email address is on page 2 of the magazine.
The weekend of the 10th/11th July, I have already booked with continental car tours through the SOC offer, this is from the thursday to the monday(4 nights @ £369 p/p) which i thought quite a good deal, looking forward to the drive down to Le Mans as much as the event itself
Ive been the last two years and had a ball , This is part of an e mail i got the other day about it. Dear Le Mans Classic Enthusiast,
Thank you for registering your interest in our trip to Le Mans Classic and Tertre Rouge next year.
We had hoped to open for bookings around this time but unfortunately the organisers in France have just informed me that they have delayed setting prices until mid-October. Everything is ready to take your bookings here at the TSSC Office but without firm prices we cannot send out booking forms. All the necessary arrangements have been made in France, including booking the Tertre Rouge site for our exclusive use (we confirmed this back in November 2008).
Our best estimate at this stage is that we will be able to open for bookings around Monday 19th October. I apologise for the delay which is very frustrating but clearly beyond our control. Assuming that all goes ahead on this new timing, I expect the booking process to work as follows:
Monday 19th October booking forms emailed to you and posted on TSSC website. Booking priority for first 2 weeks to those who traveled to Le Mans with Team Triumph in 2006 and 2008.Monday 2nd November, booking open to all members of TSSC, TR Register and Stag Owners Club.Monday 30th November, any remaining places offered for sale to all comers.
As soon as we have any more information from the organisers I will let you know.
Thanks for the info EV .Am i right in thinking thatTertre Rouge is a camp site?
Cheers Steve
I believe it is Steve - but the translation of Tertre Rouge is Red Hillock so might not be very comfortable, or everyone will be at the bottom in the morning
I understand that "Tertre Rouge" is the campsite siuated in the centre of the circuit:PRefered to on the website covering local camping sites as being ideal for "the hard core race fan":P
Tetre Rouge is a campsite , its between the dunlop bridge and the start of the mulsane straight , It is one of the better sites as its next to the track .
