    breakdowns

have had my stag for over 4yrs

    never ,ever broken down

    never missed a beat

went out on sunday for a drive and got stuck behind typical 40 mph sunday driver

changed down to third, indicated to overtake.throttle down, half way past car

THROTTLE CABLE SNAPPED at the pedal end,(the nipple had come off the wire)

had to put on hazard flashers and tuck back in behind car

VERY SCARY could have been dangerous

luckily i had a spare in the boot and was on my way in 15 minutes

    what is you scariest moment

If you have read some of my previous posts you will see that I carry everything bar the Kitchen Sink in my boot. Not having a Garage to store spares in does influence my decision to carry as much as possible with me, and the fact that there is only one other Stag on the Island and I do not know him well enough to call on him for assistance. Besides I do not know his address and he is Canarian & my Spanish is not all that good yet.

Have not yet met a 40mph sunday driver, all the ones I seem to get stuck behind do 28 and three quarters:?

I have never had that problem in Tenerife. The cars in front of me dissappear into the distance regardless of the local speed limit. The ones behind me on the Motorway drive up to me and nudge my rear bumper if I am in the Fast lane overtaking someone and am not breaking the 125kph speed limit. If I see a Taxi in my mirror I always pull over and let them go on their way as thay are totally Mad and usually drive with their foot to the floor with their left arm dangling out of the window whilst listening to Canarian music on the radio.

Van pulled out in front of me ,just managed to stop .It was my fault as i had left the left hand indicator going so he thought i was turning into the side road he was coming out of.Buzzer on the indicator fitted that afternoon.

                  Cheers Steve

About 2 years ago I jumped in the Stag, drove down my lane and when I got to the T junction at the end I braked and the pedal went straight to the floor! Mercifully there was no traffic and I sailed out helplessly into the road unmolested. I very gingerly reversed back up the lane with one hand on the handbrake.

The problem was that the titchy O rings in that stupid brake circuit compensation valve thingon the nearsideinner winghad failed(can't think what it's called - it is getting late) and let the brake fluid out. Cost about 50p to fix.
