    Weber Pictures

A couple of people have asked for some pictures of the Weber without filter, and with a small filter fitted. I hope these pictures are useful.

Certainly makes the engine bay look tidier.

Does the inlet manifold have to be modified in any way?

No, Johnboy, you just need to remove the Stromberg adapter and then fit the new Weber adapter. Simples

Looks great, how does the conversion deal with the breather side of things?

With the Lowrider filter the breather connects to the underside of the filter. If a small filter like the one shown is to be fitted, I would need to check that there is a connection for a breather. The one shown does not have it, but the K&N may do.

Have you been able to check if there's much reduction in vacuum advance? Side draft Webers always seem detrimental to manifold vacuum, just wondering if this has the same drawback??

Hi Nick. There doesnt seem to be any lack of vacuum at the carb take off. When disconnecting the pipe to the distributor there was a considerable decrease in advance (at about 3000 rpm) as seen using the strobe lamp. Also, I think if this were a problem we should have experienced some pinking (detonation) but we only got a smooth take up on the throttle.

The problem you have is the vacuum on that carb is there with the carb butterflies closed so you have constant vacuum at idle and lose the vacuum once the throttle is opened, the Stag carbs work the opposite way, no vacuum at idle and vacuumwhen the throttle is opened and then dies away, unless you have an American specStrombergcarbs. try disconnecting the vacuum advance and blocking it off at the carb. It should work fine without the vacuum advance, many tuned engines do not use a vacuum unit.

Thanks - I'm rebuilding the engine (and everything else!) I do have US spec carbs my car is a Federal model. Do you think I need to do something about this?
I am uping the CR (to 8.8:1) and have had the distributor advance converted to UK specs.
                        Regards

Dump the US spec carbs and all the emissionpartsand fit carb/carbs of your choice.

Do you have any rolling road figures yet, I see Enginuity offered a free run for Singapore Stag. I think we all want to know how it compares with the Holley.

                              Hi All.

I just spoke to the castings company and they have now made the patterns, and will be making the first casting tomorrow (probably). . Will keep you posted on further progress.

They have been inundated with work recently which is why my 'small fish' order has been delayed. It is undesrtandadble as they have salaries to pay etc and they need the big orders, and its also nice to seesuchsigns that the economy may bepicking up.
