After Russ's 'moment' with his accelerator pedal getting caught on the floor mat I had my own scary moment today...
I was showing my work colleague my stag as he had not seen it running, and decided to go for a quick run. The local stag owners will know where I mean
I went up Red road, then right into Macdonald Rd through to Lightwater, down to the M3 junction and round the roundabout, now tih engine nice and warm was showing him what it could do up the Lightwater by-pass..
Booted it from the traffic lights and, not sure how fast I was going officer as the speedo was moving around too much, but the rev counter was about 4500 in4th gear with o/d on:shock:, Gordons Roundabout was rapidly approaching, so went to slow down and like Russ....IT DIDN'T:shock::shock::shock:
Tried dipping the clutch, but revs were going off the scale so decided against that, pushed hard on the brake pedal to slow it down to about 30, luckily nothing was coming from the right at the roundabout, so managed to get across and then turned the key off and coasted intoa bus stop... foooking hell!!!
Turns out that the vacuum/advance pipe had hooked over the screw that clamps the throttle cable end, holding the throttle open:shock::shock:
I don't think my colleague will be going in the Stag with me for awhile after that.
