A tad optimistic on the price, do we no think?!!

It sounds as if somebody has done a tremendous job on this car, but £24k...... come on?!!

It does sound a lot, but I think the Stag is becoming one of those cars that's worth what you can get, the classic press has upped their value a tad, although nothing like this. It's all good news though, the extreme valuation a couple of years ago was £17 - £18 grand and this drags us mere mortals along with it. Martin.

It kind of flies in the face of logic though, given the current state of the economy. Usually luxury goods (i.e. non-essentials, especially when big thirsty cars are so heavily taxed at the moment)that are difficult to value tend to fall in price during times of economic downturn.

The only thing that could possibly explain an upward shift in price at times like thiswould be due to a lack of supply - fewer cars coming on to the market, so would-be sellers deciding not to sell because they don't want to lock in a loss by selling at a weak time. However you'd expect this effect to be more than offset by the general suppression of demand during times of recession.

Makes me feel better though - 2 months ago I paid < £3k for a pretty solid but by no means concours example...... strengthens my feeling at the time that I'd be very unlikely to make a loss!

It's nice to think that values are rising, but I think I've seen the same ad a few times over recent months, so I don't believe it's selling for that price! Still, if you're not in any hurry to sell I guess you can hold out for top dollar...

I'm by no means convinced that you can put the words"logic" and "classic cars" in the same sentence I don't think many of us would be looking for a profit, these old beauties take time AND money to look after, but it doesn't hurt to note that there is an upward trend. My neighbours 4 year old BMW has lost 75% of its value while remaining desireable, while my old girl is worth more than I paid for it 6 years ago. :dude:

It was always a truism that every time a Porsche appeared in the classic mags the values went up, we've had a lot of coverage in the last 2 years, and it's possible that the same thing is happening to us. When values go up, thequality of the Stag population goes up, at theChester Nationals in '05 I saw lots of scruffy Stags, mobile but scruffy, I think I saw 2 at Uttoxeter. We're worth more than we think we are ! I rests me case and opens a bottle of wine. Martin.

Surely this is the stag that sold for just over £16000 on ebay a few months ago, looks like someone is trying to make a quick profit

                Hello everybody,

Give me a thorough trashing, if I am mistaken: This is obviously the very Stag, which was sold via eBay a couple of weeks ago for about 20K.

                Kind regards, Dieter.

Another member told me earlier in the week (he'd been speaking to the guy in Nottigham that restored the car) the original buyer didn't pay. It was put back on ebay at the beginning of last week and sold straight away (£18K)......new owner put it straight back on at £24K!

Better keep to the "Black sheep" brew then.

As much as I love Stags, if I had 24k burning a hole in my pocket, a Stag would not be in my top five cars to buy. I would go for something more exotic.
