Wheel Spacers Good Bad downright dodgy?

I want to change the wheels on the stag, nothing to radical but just a bit of a difference.

Wheel spacers are they safe? i mean the type that bolt to the existing pcd and then space and convert to say a 5x pcd? not the cheap nasty type that just space.

i looked at the challenger wheels fitted to the red stag of Simmons in the 2stags and a wedding shots. I like them very much but just a bit to similar.

Have a look at the one's i like although available in the correct 4x114.3 pcd they have the wrong offset of 38 not 28. I guess at this offset the would rub the inner wings? What would be the max width that would fit under the wings if the correct offset is used?

My wheels standard have a 205 tyre on and they look very tight!:?

I'd have a chat with the Queensland Department of Transport, they will know what you can and can't do regarding mods. Knowing how anal they can be, I would hazard a guess they will tell you to provide an Engineers report and you will have to have one of those ugly Mod plates riveted to the engine bay.

    regards,

    Raoul

        Thanks Simon,

I think i will go the challenger route, as Raoul says over here things can be a bit strange when it come to Cars.

Do you know what the offset of the wheels are or perhaps the backspace?

        Thanks again

would not be good to see your car get a ticket on the windscreen.

ticket on the windscreen = means no longer driveable on the road and has to be trailered home, we saw cars have this done.

Spacers are okay, if correcting an off-set. Porsche use them from the factory.
I think 4 to 5 wheel studs adapters are physically impossible for they will overlap!
I've seen a stag fitted with 7x17 wheels, using 25 thick spacers to correct the wheels 42et off-set. Just fit with 215/45 tyres.

These are the type of thing i was thinking of

What did a 17" rim look like under the arch of a Stag? mmmmm bit over the top?

I presume the the wheel center dia can be spaced with a plastic or ally ring to the correct dimension to suit the hub of spacer? If you do fit spacers what about tracking/ suspension geometry to the rear end does this need major adjustments etc?

Simon i got a one line reply from Performance Wheels and he didn't recommend the the Challenger wheel only the minilite type:XBut now i have the required dimensions i think a visit may be in order they are not too far away from me.

I really liked them. They fitted really well in the standard wheel wells.
The stag alloys/steel rims do not seat centrally by the hub, but by the wheel nuts, I believe!
Talking to the owner I believe he used spacers and 25mm longer studs, to take into account the 25mm spacer. Not sure I would be happy with this though, rather use an adapter that bolts to the hub, then studs secured to the adapter, like your link. These could then be on a 100 PCD if required.

I really like those 'speedy' rims above though, a modern take on the OEM Stag alloy.

Oh Yes now i do like that allot!!!

Changing my mind again, 17" with elastic bands for tyres. to many choices now.

I agree on the speedy rims, just a bit different but as you say similar.
