Am about to fit the hardtop windows as side screens, and wonder if anyone has come up with another idealinsteadof usingthe bent wire. How about a small piece of Velcro on the bottom of the window and on the chrome surround would it work
Any other ideals would be most welcome

As Graham says when I first fitted themI used the bits of wire but Steve (revbra) tried using draft excluder on the bottom edge. As long as you fit them tight enough they don't move. In other words the excluder needs to compact down to grip properly. Steve tested his up to 100mph and they didn't move I wouldn't dream of driving that fast unless on an autobahnI have had to replace the strip a couple of times as it does roll of the edge but as you get enough for a couple of doors in the pack there is plenty spare.
Many thanks and will give it a try. Next question before I dill the holes,is as you can see from the attached pictures Can it be fitted as in this picture i.e. inline with the outer edge of the B post
I have mine fitted as picture two but I see no reason why you shouldn't do it as per pic one. My windows are quite tight in the runner and I think this is what is holding them firm with the draught excluder
Hi Malcolm,
If we are talking about stopping the windows from swinging outwards when driving, I merely cut a piece of 6mm thick 90 degree angle plastic ( around l3mm long with 10mm long legs), and tucked one leg under the chrome on the tonneau lid, and left the other leg pointing upwards for the rear of the hardtop window to butt up against.
I don't bother taking the lugs out, even when the windows are not fitted, as they are unobtrusive.
They have been in place for 6 years with no problems, and certainly work.
hope this helps,
Peter
One of the guys in the Bristol group - I can't remember his name - but he, his wife and two little boys came to meetings. He made me an aluminium strut to fit between the lugs on the inside of the windows, holding them apart. If you don't need to sit adults in the back of the car, this strut works perfectly.
Sorry I can't take a picture of mine but thye car's sick about 100 miles from home!
